GIANT CAN OF PAINT

One day last summer, I was looking at the sky,

It was never bluer than that day in July,

I was trimmin’ bushes, pullin’ weeds from my lawn,

Things were pretty peaceful, as time went on.

All of the sudden, I thought I saw a cloud,

Swelling like a snowball, it sounded pretty loud,

A giant can of paint soon hit the earth so hard,

And now I got bluegrass in my front yard.

Bluegrass, bluegrass, used to be so green,

Throwed away my lawnmower, now all I do is clean,

Bluegrass, bluegrass, it happened so fast,

My green colored lawn is a thing of the past.

Well, I called up my neighbor, I couldn’t believe my eyes,

I told her my story, and to my surprise,

That same can of paint had affected her, too,

And now she’s got a front yard, a deep shade of blue.

Bluegrass, bluegrass, used to be so green,

Throwed away my lawnmower, now all I do is clean,

Bluegrass, bluegrass, it happened so fast,

My green colored lawn is a thing of the past.

Well we figured that no newspaper would print this kind of news,

So I grabbed myself a beer and I kicked off my shoes,

I turned on the TV and there were interviews,

Everyone was cryin’ about the same kind of blues.

Bluegrass, bluegrass, used to be so green,

Throwed away my lawnmower, but saved the gasoline,

Bluegrass, bluegrass, it happened so fast,

My green colored lawn is a thing of the past.

I think that I’m fond of my new lawn at last.
